How it plays

Choose how you arrive.

Land in Malé as a backpacker with a little money and no plan. Wash up as a castaway on an uninhabited islet with nothing at all. Or grow up as an island kid with a dugout bokkura and a handline.

Make a living.

Forage coconuts, fish the reef edge, work shifts at a resort and haul cargo between atolls. Build a camp, and later a guesthouse. Dive real dive sites, ride out monsoon storms, and keep an eye on the tideline: ambergris washes up now and then.

Sail further.

Work your way up from a coconut-log raft to a dhoni of your own. The map is the real one: every island, coastline and reef across all 26 atolls comes from OpenStreetMap.
